I am so glad there is a website like this to help people realize just how many pets die in shelters while waiting for a second chance.I ran a shelter for 6 years and I gave love and recieved love from nearly every animal there.I adopted 2 kittens,a lovebird, and a Spitz and a Pom.The dogs were going to be put down because they had been abused and no longer trusted people.I won there trust and we bonded,so euth. was out of the question.I took them hope and eventually they warmed up to my parents. The Spitz,Trixie had to be put down after 4 years due to constant seizures, but the Pom,Midget,is still going strong she is 14 years old and was 3 when I got her,the other pets have died, the lovebird was old age,the kittens which were 11 were attacked by a neighbors dog, they would'nt leave each others side.I would have taken more but already had a Pit/Boxer mix and a Rottie and a Persian all rescued from a pet store the cops shut down.I have 5 dogs and a cat now all rescued from terrible conditions.I will never pay for a pet while there are so many dying in shelters.
In Loving memory Blue, My dog for I will never forget him. He was a stray i found wondering around. I took him in and fed him and helped him feel better. His owners never called so i had no choice but to call the shelter. Blue was scared, It was so sad to see him go. Wherever he is, I know he is happy now. I can feel it.
