Inky was once a thrown away stray American Pit Bull Terrier, used for breeding and left tied to a pole with an untreated case of demodectic mange so awful that we couldn't tell what color hair she had. Within six months, Inky the unwanted lucky-to-be-rescued pit bull became Inky the AKC Canine Good Citizen Award winner and Therapy Dog Intl. certified therapy dog. Inky is shown at the Houston 2009 Reliant Dog Show after five hours of walking through the crowd, being pet and hugged and being an ambassador for the APBT breed. People were very positive to her and we had a good time. Support breed rescue, don't breed and buy pit bull terriers when perfect family pets like Inky are dying in the shelters all over the USA!
People ask what type of collar she has on. It's a Greyhound style martingale, which does tighten up if she pulls but doesn't choke her and keeps the dog from backing out and slipping the collar.

MEET Gavin
Gavin the little blind shetland sheepdog found wandering cornfields. Blind dogs, and those with other special needs, do incredibly well. Dogs don't know words like 'disability' or 'handicap', they only crave love, care and companionship from their humans. Please consider adopting a special needs dog. Without adopters, like the ones in this video, many special needs dogs like Gavin would be put to sleep when they have so much love yet to give.

MEET Greyhounds
The Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary helps retired greyhounds find permanent homes in the United Kingdom. Greyhounds are loyal affectionate family pets and contrary to opinion do not require vast amounts of exercise or food. If you would like to know more about this wonderful breed, and what is involved in the rehoming process, please look through the pages of their website.
The final video in a series chronicling the struggles of Louis Vuitton, a dog abuse victim in Montgomery, AL. 17 months ago, Louis was doused with lighter fluid, set on fire and beaten with a shovel, all because his owners son was denied use of the family car.
From pending euthanasia to top level disc dog in under 2 years...what a great story. Hopefully this will help show a positive side to the breed. They say that actions speak louder than words, and if that's the case, this is Wallace speaking loudly for pit bulls everywhere!
Angel is a pit bull terrier mix who was once abused and left for dead and has won the hearts of caring people all over the globe. She taught us not to judge a book by its cover and that love really does heal all wounds.

MEET WIDGET
Widget is a blind dog that spends her days at Rolling Dog Ranch. A special place where disabled animals enjoy life on a Montana ranch. Residents include blind dogs, blind horses, deaf dogs, blind cats, and animals with medical disabilities like muscular dystrophy. Yet every one of these animals enjoys life to the fullest!
Patti was found as a stray Border collie tied to a caravan in County Durham and came into the Border Collie Rescue centre at a year old in April 2006. She needed a lot of attention and socialisation before we could even start to assess her but she has plenty of the spirit and energy the breed is known for. She showed us that she was good at scenting and retrieval so a number of options were open. Search and Rescue - sniffer dog for the Police, Etc. or another similar discipline. She is in her new home and this video shows her in training for competitive working trials.
The Border Collie is designed to be a sheepdog and was originally used for herding livestock in the English and Scottish Borders. Border Collie Rescue assesses all dogs coming into our care for herding ability and will rehome them as stockdogs if that is what they need to do but we also assess and rehome for scent discrimination skills to the Police, Prison Service and Excise to detect drugs, explosives and firearms -- to SARDA and other rescue organisations for mountain rescue and search and rescue work -- to help deaf, blind or otherwise disabled people as well as for working trials, flyball, agility, obedience and other interactive sporting disciplines and many of our dogs have qualified for Crufts in these disciplines. Those that show us they do not need or want to work are rehomed as PAT dogs, pets and companions. (text and video copyright Border Collie Rescue UK)

MEET WILSHIRE
Wilshire was carried to fire station 29 by a ten year old girl on a cold night in March of 2006. The young girl rang the doorbell of the fire station and explained that she could no longer keep her best friend, because her apartment was too small for the young Dalmatian puppy. The firefighters looked at each other with concern wanting to help this sweet little girl. They wanted to help her but there was no room for a dog in the fire station. The firefighters gave the family information for the local animal rescue shelter where they could take the little spotted puppy. The family was told the rescue would be able to care for the puppy for one week only. The girl was worried for her best friend and insisted her parents take the Dalmatian puppy to the fire station because she was convinced her heroes from the Los Angeles City Fire department would rescue him.
The family returned to the fire station on Wilshire Blvd. and told the firefighters the puppy needed a home. The Firefighters took the puppy in on St. Patrick’s Day and his life began at Fire Station 29.
One of the Firefighters told everybody that his name should be Wilshire after the very busy street where they lived. Wilshire’s new family showed him the ropes of life in fire station. Wilshire was smart and learned fast. It wasn’t long before he had learned how to teach children fire safety. Wilshire has three shifts of 16 firefighters that rotate through the station. That is 48 different people over three days.
The firefighters took Wilshire into their fire family and the little orphaned Dalmatian repaid his heroes by teaching children of all ages about fire safety. Wilshire is saving lives like his heroes of fire station 29 do everyday.

Faith is an amazing survivor. She was born with only two legs and now walks upright like a human. Please watch the video to see this amazing trooper.
